Undersecretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (MCFA) Kong Kantara has noted his pleasure at the hosting of the ongoing Cambodia Culture Week in the southern province of Soc Trang, saying it tightens the friendship between the two peoples.

Meeting with Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Quach Viet Tung in the locality on December 20, Kantara praised the local authorities for preserving the traditional arts of Khmer residents.

Kantara said he hopes he will welcome the province’s art troupe to his country very soon.

Tung spoke to his guest of the cultural similarities shared by Khmer locals in the province and Cambodia.

The same day, Cambodian artists entertained Soc Trang audiences with their folk music and dance performances. They will go to Sro Lon pagoda in My Xuyen district for their second show.

Co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the MCFA, Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam is running in Soc Trang and Ben Tre provinces from December 17-23 with a focus on the unique Cambodian arts through exchanges and sightseeing tours.-VNA
