Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on December 3 received Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Nhan and a VFF delegation are in Cambodia to attend celebrations of the 35th founding anniversary of the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation (December 2, 1978-2013).

PM Hun Sen voiced his support for activities stated in the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation among the fronts of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, aiming to promote and enhance trilateral cohesion and companionship

The VFF Chairman said the establishment of the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation was a historical event that contributed to the victory of Cambodian people over the Pol Pot genocidal regime on January 7, 1979.

Since then, Cambodia has reaped remarkable achievements in all fields, particularly in keeping up a high economic growth, reducing poverty, and increasing local average income per capita, he said.

The Vietnamese guest also congratulated the country on its successful organisation of the fifth National Assembly general election that took place on July 28 with the victory of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

The same day, PM Hun Sen hosted a reception for Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee Phanh Duongchet Vongsa.-VNA
