Cambodia’s per capita income has reached 1,000 USD this year, four times higher than the 240 USD figure recorded in 1993.

Cambodia’s Development and Research Institute (CDRI) released the information and estimated that if a GDP growth rate of 7.5 percent is maintained over the next 17 years, Cambodia’s annual per capita income will likely surpass 2,800 USD by 2030.

During this period, if a higher growth rate of 8.5 percent is achieved, per capita income in 2030 could be closer to 3,300 USD – a level that Indonesia obtained in 2011.

The Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance forecasts per capita income will stand at 1,080 USD this year, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

International financial institutions like the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Asia Development Bank predicted a 7 percent growth for Cambodia in 2013.-VNA
