The border guard force of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on September 18 rescued 19 Cambodians in the neighbouring province of Ratanakiri from heavy floods.
Due to heavy downpours since September 16, border post 703 in Cambodia’s Ratanakiri and several households living near the post were stranded by floods. The Cambodian border guards sent a call for help to the Border Guard command in Gia Lai province, which directed soldiers at nearby Ia Lop border station to launch a rescue mission.
With the flooding expected to worsen over the coming days, the provincial border guard force has arranged shelter for the rescued victims. The Cambodians have also been provided with food and other necessities while they wait for the water level to drop.-VNA
