On June 8, Cambodia’s Appeal Court upheld the decision handed down by Phnom Penh’s municipal court on the Sam Rainsy border lawsuit.
The municipal court rejected the request made by Sam Rainsy, Chairman of the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) to form a special commission, which consists of the SRP and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).
The commission will survey the location on the border between Vietnam and Cambodia and investigate the SRP accusation that Vietnam encroached on Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province during the demarcation process.
Sam Rainsy’s defence lawyer Choung Choungy, presented the request at the municipal court on May 19 that accused the leader of the opposition Party of falsifying public documents, using fake letters and for spreading disinformation regarding Vietnam and Cambodia ’s common border./.
