Phnom Penh (VNA) –
Cambodia’s exports increased 17 percent year-on-year to reach 7.7 billion USD in the first nine months of 2017, according to Director General of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce Nguon Meng Tech.

The rise was mainly driven by garment-textile and footwear, which brought home 4.9 billion USD, up 8.3 percent against the same period last year.

Cambodia exported three billion USD worth of goods to the European Union in January-September, a year-on-year increase of 5.94 percent.

The country also earned more than 534 million USD from shipments to Japan, up 25.84 percent against the same period last year.

Despite a decline in apparel exports to the US, Cambodia’s overall exports to the market still increased 5.6 percent to hit 2.28 billion USD.-VNA
