Cambodian government has issued new regulations regarding marriages between Cambodian women and foreign men.

Accordingly, foreigners under the age of 50 and earning over 2,550 USD per month are eligible to get married with Cambodian women.

Koy Kuong, a spokesperson of the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, said the new regulations aim to ensure satisfactory living conditions for Cambodian brides and prevent them from becoming victims of human trafficking.

The ministry has informed the amendment to foreign embassies and consulates in the country.

In 2010, the Cambodian government issued to temporarily ban on marriages between Cambodian women and men from the Republic of Korea (RoK) after officials of the Interior Ministry cracked down on a crossborder human trafficking ring.
