Cambodia can export from roughly 350,000 to 400,000 tonnes of milled rice in 2013, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Chan Sarun has said.
In the first seven months of this year, Cambodia exported over 200,000 tonnes of milled rice to 50 countries, said Chan Sarun, adding that the country will be able to achieve its target of exporting at least one million tonnes of milled rice by 2015.
According to Cambodia ’s news agency AKP, the Minister made the remarks during a meeting with Claire Van der Vaeren, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Nina Brandstrup, Representative of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Cambodia.
Both UN’s representatives highly valued Cambodia for the development of agricultural sector, stressing that with the remarkable agricultural development, the country's food safety will be secured.-VNA
