The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) opened its national congress in Phnom Penh on March 16 with the participation of more than 2,200 delegates.

At the opening of the congress, CPP's President Chea Sim said that in the last five years, under the Party's leadership, Cambodia attained great achievements in various fields such as politics, economics, social affairs, finance, sovereignty protection, security and social safety.

During the two-day gathering, the Party will evaluate the results of the implementation of its political platform over the last five years, and lay out the next five-year political platform, he said.

The CPP will outline strategies in order to win the general election scheduled for July 28, 2013, he added.-VNA
