Construction of a 191-billion-VND centre to provide postgraduate training started on August 15 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The centre, the first of its kind so far in the province, will be built in the Can Tho University’s campus on an area of over 22,000 sq. metres.

It is expected to be put into use after three years of construction or by the fourth quarter of 2012.

Once operational, the centre can meet demand for postgraduate education of around 5,000 domestic and 1,500 international students.

Can Tho University’s Headmaster Nguyen Anh Tuan said that the centre is expected to meet local needs and help make Can Tho a key university and a leading centre on technology and science in the Mekong Delta region./.
