Can Tho general hospital in Can Tho city has put 25 new artificial kidney machines into operation, serving the demands of people in the Mekong Delta region.

The hospital’s Director Dang Quang Tam said on May 9 that the equipment is funded by the World Bank via its project on supporting the health sector in the Mekong Delta.

Earlier, the province had only four artificial kidney machines, which can only met 20 percent of patients’ needs.

With the operation of the new machines, the hospital is able to treat 75 patients a day.

The hospital plans to set up a specific department for kidney treatment to meet the demands for kidney check-ups and treatment of local people.-VNA
