The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho estimates its collection for the State budget this year at nearly 9.5 trillion VND (451.6 million USD), 35.5 percent higher than the amount the Finance Ministry assigned.

According to the municipal Party Committee’s Secretary Tran Thanh Man, four districts, namely Co Do, Thoi Lai, Vinh Thanh and Cai Rang, have outstripped their targets.

Meanwhile, the provincial Department of Customs has collected 1.2 trillion VND (57.1 million USD) for the State budget, also higher than its yearly target.

Such an outcome is attributable to the good performance of local businesses, helping them fulfil their tax duty.

Budget collection included, Can Tho has fulfilled 18 out of its 22 key targets for this year. The city is forecast to post a 11.5 percent GDP growth in 2013, relatively high compared to regional provinces.-VNA
