Vietnam Air Service Company (VASCO) will launch an air route from the Mekong delta city of Can Tho to Con Dao island and vice versa from June 1.

VASCO, a Vietnam Airlines member, is scheduled to provide four flights per week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on ATR72-500 aircraft.

The flight takes about 40 minutes with single trip price of 400,000 VND (roughly 20 USD).

Earlier, VASCO launched an air route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao and vice versa with 24-28 flights a week on 65-seat aircraft.

Vietnam Airlines and Air Mekong are operating air routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao and vice versa.

Con Dao island is an archipelago, 180km off the southern coastal province of Ba Ria Vung Tau . Covering 76 sq. km, the archipelago consists of 16 islands, with the largest island called Con Son.

One of Vietnam’s sea-tourist hot spots and described as a paradise in many international travel magazines, the pristine nature of Con Dao appeals to visitors, with beautiful beaches, pure, blue water and long stretches of sand.

Apart from the seaside attractions, Con Dao has a national park with rich flora and fauna. It is also a place to preserve dugongs, dolphins and sea turtles, which are under threat of extinction./.
