The President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, Vu Xuan Hong, on August 16 presented an insignia for Peace and Friendship Among Nations to Canadian Ambassador Deanna Horton in Hanoi on the completion of her term of office.
During her term, Ambassador Deanna Horton made contributions to promoting bilateral ties between Vietnam and Canada, including activities to mark the 35 th anniversary of bilateral ties, and successfully hosting Run for Children in 2009, which raised 960 million VND to support children with heart and cancer diseases.
In culture, education and economic cooperation, the ambassador contributed to promoting a national education strategy to link education between the two countries, encouraging Canadians to invest in Vietnam through social programmes.
The ambassador also supported bilateral cooperation programmes, launching a safe food project and hosting events to connect Vietnamese women with women internationally.
Ambassador Deanna Horton thanked Vietnamese organisations for their positive support during her term and said she will continue to actively contribute to further strengthening the friendship and cooperative ties between Canada and Vietnam./.
