Cao Dai Chieu Minh Long Chau sect holds congress

The Cao Dai Chieu Minh Long Chau church organised its fourth congress in the Mekong delta province of Hau Giang on June 26, with the participation of 149 dignitaries and followers of the church and representatives of other sects of Caodaism and other religions.

The participants heard that in the 2006-2010 period, the Cai Dai Chieu Minh Long Chau church has focused on strengthening its apparatus and spread its teachings alongside participating in charitable and social activities.

They were briefed that all dignitaries and followers of the sect have actively contributed money to building bridges, roads, houses for the poor, raised funds and goods, and provided medical services for other people in their residential areas.

The church has set to involve in more charitable activities and work to raise more funds for the poor in the 2010-2015 period.

Present at the event, Nguyen Dac Tuan, Head of the Caodaism Department of the Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs said he hoped the sect will bring into full play its advantages and remedy weaknesses to further improve the quality of its operation in the new term.

He also hoped the sect will join together in abiding by the laws, participating in humanitarian and social activities in their localities and emulation movements.

This congress elected an 11-member standing committee of the sect for the 2010-2015 period, with Thanh Hong Chon Tran Van Nhuan as Chairman./.
