At least 42 people were injured in a car bomb in the city of Thailand 's southernmost province of Narathiwas on August 25, according to the Thai Army.

The car-bomb exploded in front of a restaurant in the township of the province as many civil servants and civilians were having lunch.

Of the victims, seven were in serious condition. Most of them were local officials and Buddhist followers, the source said.

The blast is the bloodiest case of violence in Thailand so far this year.

Since 2004, in southern Thailand , especially Narathiwas, violence has been occurred regularly, killing over 3,700 people and injuring thousands of others.

Last June saw 11 people killed at a worshiping place in Narathiwas.
