Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi People’s Committee on March 3 proposed subsidised ticket rates on its first metro project – the Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway – when the metro opens for commercial operation next month.

A single ticket is priced at 15,000 VND (65 US cent) per person traveling the whole metro line and 8,000 VND for travel from one stop to the next. A daily ticket is 30,000 VND (1.3 USD), including an unlimited number of trips. A monthly ticket will cost 200,000 VND (8.62 USD).

The proposed prices will apply during the pilot period and would then be adjusted. However, the duration of the pilot period has not been confirmed.

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong line runs 13.5km with 12 stations, including Cat Linh, La Thanh, Thai Hà, Lang, Thuong Dinh, Ring Road 3, Phung Khoang, Van Quan, Ha Dong, La Khe, Van Khe and Yen Nghia.

The track is designed for speeds up to 80km/h and trains would run every 3-5 minutes.

The 886 million USD project was originally slated to begin operation in 2016 but multiple setbacks pushed the date back to the end of the first quarter of 2019.-VNA
