Central, Central Highland businesses get information on EU market

A seminar on the EU market was co-held in Da Nang city on Nov. 30 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s Da Nang branch and the European Delegation to Vietnam, to brief them of the Vietnam-EU relationship since their diplomatic ties were established 20 years ago. The two sides’ relations now have been increased into a strategic partnership.

Attending the seminar, Madeleine Kihlberge, EU Delegation’s charge d’affaires introduced the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and gave answers to businesses’ questions on cooperation with EU partners.

The ‘Export Helpdesk’ internet service, providing datas of products and their codes as well as regulations on taxes, import taxes and trade statisitics, - an useful tool for businesses to get an overview of EU market – was also introduced to the participants.

The VCCI Da Nang branch’s Director Nguyen Cuong said almost all of central provinces have exporters to EU, especially Binh Dinh province that have 90 percent of timber processors exporting their products to this market.

Cuong said that 65 percent of the central region’s exported products are sold to EU, a market of big potential for the region’s businesses./.
