Quang Nam (VNA) - The central province of Quang Nam’s Culture, Sports and Tourism department has introduced eight new tourist sites this year.

According to Director of the department Dinh Hai, the province now operates tours to a forest of centuries-old Po Mu trees in Tay Giang district.

He said these trees, some of which are about 1,000 years old, have been included on the national heritage register.

Triem Tay village in Dien Ban town was recognised as a community-based tourism site, across the Hoai River only 10 minutes from Hoi An city.

Huong My organic farm village and beach of Binh Minh in Thang Binh district – along with rural market in Tien Phuoc district – also offer a rural lifestyle and farm produce.

Tourists can explore and practice with local residents in farming, and enjoy a homestay in the two districts.

Tam Hai island – off the coast of Nui Thanh district – has been linked with Cham Island and Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai province in a sea route.

Recovered mangrove forest in Tam Giang commune in Nui Thanh will offer a tour of sea and wetland biodiversity as well as fishing villages.

Travel agencies in the province also launched a cruise service along the Thu Bon River connecting rural villages with Hoi An, nipa palm forest of Cam Thanh and craft villages of Kim Bong, Ban Thach and Duy Vinh.

Mountainous district of Nam Tra My, where is known for farms of Ngoc Linh ginseng offers a tour to ginseng farms and ethnic hamlets in the district.

The mountainous districts in Quang Nam province including Tay Giang, Nam Giang, Bac Tra My, Nong Son, Que Son and Nam Tra My are favourite destinations for motorbike rides and off-the-road adventures that give a glimpse of the lifestyle of ethnic minorities at 1,500m above the sea level.

Last month, the province in cooperation with Da Nang city and Thua Thien-Hue province hosted a promotion programme in Bangkok, introducing new tourism services and destinations to travel agencies in Thailand.
