A workshop to launch a human resource development project for urban water companies in Vietnam ’s central region has been held in the former imperial city of Hue.
This is the project’s first event, jointly held by Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the College of Urban Construction under the central region Training Centre for Water Supplies and the Thua Thien-Hue Construction and Water Supply Company.
At the two-day workshop, those attending heard about the project’s operations, a management model used by Japan’s Yokohama Waterworks Bureau as well as proposals from the World Health Organisation and the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association.
The project will help central provinces to improve people’s access to fresh water and develop the workforce for the region’s water supply companies.
It will be carried out from 2010-2013 using more than 3.3 million USD of non-refundable aid from the Japanese Government./.
