April 18 is Vietnam’s Day of People with Disabilities. Join our reporters to a centre in the northern province of Nam Dinh which has become a popular place for kids with disabilities, helping them overcome difficulties and integrate into the society.

 

Children with mental and physical disabilities and autism spectrum disorders are undergoing treatment at the centre.

The centre practices acupuncture and opens special classes for children with severe disabilities a part from psychological treatment. 

Over the last 20 years, the centre has given treatment to 4,000 children with mobile disabilities and improved communication skills for over 200 others with mental disorders.

With their wholeheartedness and dedication, the centre staff consider the children their family members, helping them overcome difficulties and integrate into the society.

In Vietnam, more than 7 million persons have a disability. The government has adopted and implemented a number of laws, policies, standards and initiatives pertaining to people with disability.-VNA
