The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee held a ceremony in Hanoi on Nov. 17 to mark the 81 st founding anniversary of the Vietnam National United Front - the precursor of the VFF (Nov. 18, 1930-2011).

In his speech delivered at the ceremony, VFF Central Committee President Huynh Dam looked back on the formation and development of the Vietnam National United Front, and expressed pride of the glorious tradition of the front over the past eight decades.

He said that over the past year, the VFF has continuously upheld its role and made practical contributions to the common achievements of the country, especially the successful organisation of the 11 th National Party Congress and the elections of the 13 th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.

The front has mobilised all strata of people to join patriotic emulation movements and effectively implement the Government’s Resolution 11 on curbing inflation, stabilising the macro economy and ensuring social welfares, he added.

Dam stressed that in the coming time, the VFF will actively participate in the process of amending the 1992 Constitution and revising the law on the VFF while continuing to mobilise people to step up patriotic emulation movements.

On the occasion, the VFF Central Committee presented the “For the Cause of Great National Unity 2011” Press Award and received donations to the front’s “Fund for the Poor”.
