Bangkok (VNA) – A huge explosion took place at a chemical factory in Samut Prakan in the outskirt of Bangkok on early July 5, injuring at least 21 people.

The incident happened at 2:50 am at the Ming Dih chemical factory, whose five or six warehouses storing over 50 tonnes of chemicals. It was followed by a massive fire that engulfed the entire factory and caused extensive damage to buildings and houses within a one-kilometre radius.

More than 30 firefighting trucks from the Rachathewa tambon administration organisation and other local administrations were rushed to the scene.

The blast was felt from Suvarnabhumi airport, but the authorities have not rescheduled any flights. Local authorities have ordered urgent evacuation of people living in the 5 km radius for worries about more explosions.

The fire has been brought under control and authorities are looking into the causes of the blast./.
