Chess grandmaster jumps to 27th place in world rankings

Top Vietnamese chess player Le Quang Liem has moved up to the 27 th place in the World Chess Federation (FIDE)’s latest ranking for April 2013.

Liem’s new Elo is 2717, a bit more than the calculation of the 2700chess.com (2716.8). Thus, he regained the Elo 2117 that he had possessed in September 2011, when he ranked 25 th in the world.

The grandmaster will have the opportunity to improve his rankings and Elo when attending the Asian Championships slated for May 17-27 in Manila, the Philippines.

The champs will also offer a chance for Liem to earn a ticket to the World Chess Cup that is scheduled at the end of the year.-VNA
