Bangkok (VNA) – China has allowed the import of chicken meat and by-products from Thailand which is expected to generate 7 billion THB in annual revenue, according to Department of Livestock Development Director-General Apai Suttisunk.

He revealed China's Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) recently certified seven chicken meat and chicken products factories in Thailand, allowing products from these factories to be exported to China.

The total value will rise to 20 billion THB should the Chinese authorities give certification to all 19 factories, he said.

The first lot of Thai chicken products delivered to China is expected by the end of March with 15 containers of chicken products worth 30 million THB (nearly one million USD). The products will be transported through Yunnan province to southern China.

Thailand is currently the third biggest exporter of chicken meat in the world, after Brazil and the US. Many markets have allowed the import of fresh and processed chicken meats from Thailand such as Japan, the European Union (EU), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Republic of Korea and Singapore.-VNA
