Strengthening and developing ties with Vietnam is one of top priorities in China ’s foreign policies to its neighbouring countries, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Guoxiang has affirmed.
The Chinese diplomat made the affirmation at a reception marking his country’s 61 st National Day (Oct. 1) in Hanoi on Sept. 28.
Ambassador Sun noted “enhancing friendship and promoting trust for mutual benefit and development are a desire pursued by both Chinese and Vietnamese people.”
He said he hoped the two countries will make new and important progress and see wide-ranging developments to bring practical benefit to their peoples this year when they mark their 60-year-old diplomatic ties.
Speaking at the function, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem extended the warmest greetings to the Chinese Party, Government and people on their national day and congratulated them on immense achievements in their national construction.
Deputy PM Khiem expressed his belief that China ’s growth will offer more opportunities for it to step up further mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries in the region in general and with Vietnam in particular and contribute to development in the region and the world at large.
Regarding the two countries’ ties, the Vietnamese Deputy PM stated “ Vietnam and China are friendly neighbourers”.
With efforts exerted by both countries over the past years, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the Vietnamese and Chinese parties and states has grown robustly towards the agreed guidance and motto, Khiem stressed.
He laid special emphasis on the meetings of the two countries’ high-ranking leaders, noting that these events have contributed to shoring up political trust, defined major orientations, and created a strong momentum to advance bilateral cooperation strongly in a wide range of areas, particularly economy, trade, investment, tourism, education, science and technology.
Deputy PM Khiem hailed the two countries’ promulgation of the protocol on land border demarcation and border marker planting and agreements on border management regulations, checkpoints along the Vietnam-China border and their management mechanism from July 14, 2010.
He noted that the move has provided a firm legal foundation for the two countries to build their borderline into the one of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, and created a premise and trust for them in settling satisfactorily sea issues.
Deputy PM Khiem reasserted that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure their traditional friendship with the Chinese fraternal people and will do their utmost to further reinforce mutual understanding and trust.
He delivered desires to work together with the Chinese Party and Government to deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the interests of people in each country as well as for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world./.
