China has promised to promote economic and trade relations with ASEAN countries.

The Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Jia Qinglin, stated this at the seventh China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on October 19.

Jia Qinglin underlined that the Chinese-ASEAN strategic partnership has benefited all the countries involved, adding that every country should step up cooperation in upgrading infrastructures, major construction works and projects that benefit the masses.

In the first nine months of this year, two-way trade between China and ASEAN increased by 44 percent, reaching 211.3 billion USD.

Operational in January this year, the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) has become the largest free trade area in the world with a population of 1.9 billion people./.
