China State Construction group, a major contractor in the Middle East, will recruit 3,000 Vietnamese workers from now through the end of the year.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed between the China State, the Air Service and Trading Joint Stock Company (Airseco) and the Vietnamese central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh on July 16.

Under the contract, Airseco will enrol workers, train them and transfer them over to the China State , which will send representatives to Vietnam to interview and check workers’ skills before bringing them abroad.

Unskilled workers will receive free training from Airseco. In particular, workers from poor districts in Thanh Hoa, one of three provinces under the Government’s pilot project on labour export in 61 poor districts, will receive special assistance in training from the project.

The contract has been considered as the first legal document between a foreign employer, local labour export enterprise and labour supply localities.

China State ’s personnel director Zhang Ke informed that since 2008 China State and Airseco have cooperated to send workers to the United Arab Emirates . So far, 500 Vietnamese workers are working in the country.

According to Zhang Ke, Vietnamese workers were highly appreciated for hard working and capacity to work under pressure. China State has decided to increase salary for all Vietnamese workers here from 1,000 Dhs per month to 1,500 Dhs per month (equal to 7.4 million VND or 411 USD).

The Department of Management of Overseas Workers said that over 33,400 workers were sent abroad in the first six months of the year, a year-on-year decrease of 17 percent. The Middle East received the largest number of Vietnamese workers./.
