Chinese mainland, Taiwan set up economic cooperation committee

The mainland and Taiwan of China on Jan.6 jointly established an economic cooperation committee within framework of the cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), according to Xinhua News Agency.

Last year, the two sides agreed to set up a committee to handle issues related to the ECFA.

The mainland’s chief representative to the committee is Jiang Zengwei, who is the special advisor of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and vice minister of commerce. Other delegates include some representatives from the ARATS, experts from the Commerce Ministry, the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Finance Ministry.

Taiwan 's chief representative to the committee is Kuo-Hsin Liang, an economic official.
The two sides also agreed that more delegates could be appointed to the committee if necessary./.
