Chinese President Hu Jintao left Beijing on November 10 to pay a state visit to Malaysia in a bid to increase strategic cooperative relations between the two countries.

This is the first state visit by a Chinese Head of State to Malaysia over the past 15 years. The visit was made at the invitation of Malaysian Supreme Head of State Mizan Zainal Abidin, said Xinhua News Agency.

During his stay in Malaysia , Chinese President Hu is expected to meet King Mizan Abidin and Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of mutual concern.

China and Malaysia set up their diplomatic ties in 1964. Malaysia is China ’s largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, with two-way trade reaching 53.47 billion USD last year.

After Malaysia , President Hu is expected to visit Singapore at the invitation of Singaporean President S. R. Natha and attend an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled from November 14-15./.
