  Beijing (VNA) – A humanitarian aid package worth 100,000 USD will be offered by the Red Cross Society of China to the Philippines to support the country in the wake of super typhoon Haima.

The announcement was made by Lu Kang, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman at a news briefing on October 24.

The Chinese government will also provide the Southeast Asian country with additional assistance to help typhoon victims stablise their lives, he added.

According to Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council statistics, 16 people were killed by typhoon Haima by October 22 and over 149,600 people evacuated their homes.-VNA
