Vice President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association Bui Hong Phuc on August 23 received a delegation of Chinese war veterans who helped Vietnam during the war against US aggressors.
Phuc expressed his thanks to the Chinese Party, Government and people for their valuable assistance and support to Vietnam during the past struggle for national independence.
The two countries are celebrating the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the Vietnam-China Friendship Year in 2010, he said.
Head of the delegation Xie Hongwei said that the delegation will visit old friends and the places where they joined Vietnamese soldiers in repairing railways and building roads.
The guests highlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in the country’s renewal process and were moved at the comradeship that had been preserved.
The delegation is scheduled to wrap up its four-day visit on August 25./.
