Cho Gao guinea fowl conserved with FAO support

Gene sources of back and white guinea fowls in a farm in Cho Gao district, the Mekong delta province of Tien Giang will be conserved with financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Lao dong daily reported on Mar. 1.

The National Institute of Animal Husbandry has granted a certificate and a contract on gene pool conservation to the farm’s owner Tran Van Luc (or Hai Luc), the paper quoted the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on Feb. 27 as saying.

Under the contract, the farm will be provided with 20 million VND each year from FAO to maintain the guinea fowl varieties, particularly 20 white guinea fowls developed by the owner himself./.
