Permanent Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Dua on Dec. 23 visited the HCM City Archdiocese (HCMCA), the HCM City Committee for Solidarity with Catholics (HCMCCSC) and the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) (ECVS) on the occasion of Christmas.

Dua wished Catholic and Protestant dignitaries and followers in the city a merry and happy Christmas.

He highlighted Catholic and Protestant followers’ efforts to join the city authorities, businesses and religious followers to surmount difficulties to fulfil socio-economic targets in 2011.

The official said he hopes they will actively respond to emulation movements, join hands with all strata of people to contribute to the development of the city and the country while practising their faith.

Cardinal Pham Minh Man, Archbishop of the HCMCA, Priest Nguyen Cong Danh, Head of the HCMCCSC and Pastors Phan Vinh Cu and Ngo Van Buu, Deputy Heads of the ECVS thanked the authorities for their attention to their festival. They said they hoped the city’s authorities will pay more attention to raise people’s living conditions.

Earlier, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Tran Hoang Tham paid Christmas visits to the HCMCA, the HCMCCSC and the ECVS.

For the same purpose, Vice President and General Secretary of the VFFCC Vu Trong Kim and representatives of the Hai Phong Chapter of the VFF visited the Hai Phong Diocese on Dec. 23.

The same day, Vice President of the VFFCC Ha Van Nui visited Ba Ria Diocese./.
