Over the past years, besides its popular Đoan Hùng pomelo, the eponymous district in the midland province of Phu Tho has grown several citrus seedlings with high economic value, thus improving local livelihoods.

Vũ Thị Tráng is among several households growing Diễn pomelos over the last 13 years. From the starting point of 2 ha garden growing different types of trees with low economic values, Tráng decided to shift to Diễn pomelo. To date, 400 trees have been planted, with 300 ready for harvesting.

Van Don commune is now home to more than 100 ha of Diễn pomelos, with 85 ha ready for harvesting. The trees are bringing remarkable economic value for local people.

Doan Hung district is working to readjust land for large-scale production, linking farmers with businesses production chain, thus ensuring income for farmers and improving local livelihoods.-VNA
