Some of the most beautiful and delicate melodies written by the most prominent classical and romantic composers like Chopin, Schumann, Donizetti, Wieniavsky, and Erno Dohnanyi will be performed at a concert at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on December 19.

Among the most popular pieces at the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO)'s Chamber Music Concert will be the Wind Quintet No 1 in B-flat Major by the Italian composer Giuseppe Maria Cambini.

Inspired by the structure of the Sinfonia Concertante, Cambini wrote the work for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon.

A release from the HBSO says: "The work is light-hearted and classical in spirit, but its form points firmly forward; it bridges the past and the future, fusing classical style with a romantic sound world."

It will be performed by the HBSO Wind Quintet.

Two other highlights of the night will be Leo Delibes's Flower duet performed by Mer. A. Tran Hong Vy and Pham Duyen Huyen and Gaetano Donizetti's Una furtiva lagrima for tenor and chamber group performed by Pham Trang.

HBSO's promising young oboist Pham Khanh Toan will present Alessandro Marcello's Concerto for Oboe and Piano in D minor, which is thought to be the most performed work of its kind.

Other famous works by romantic composers like F. Liszt, R. Schumann, H. Wieniawski will be performed by popular HBSO artists like violinists Tang Thanh Nam and Nguyen Truc Thuyen, cellist Mer.A Nguyen Tan Anh, violist Bui Anh Son, and guest pianist Joo Eun Young.

Tickets costing 400,000 VND, 350,000 VND, and 200,000 VND, and 150,000 VND for students, are available at the venue.-VNA
