Serbian artist Andjela Bratic will play Mozart's music on the flute in an International Women's Day concert at the HCM City Opera House on March 9.
Her performance will be followed by opera singer Cho Hae-ryong from the HCM City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
Considered an outstanding young talent in Serbia , Andjela will play Flute Concerto, a work written for the instrument and orchestra.
A graduate of the University of Johannes Gutenberg in Mainz , Andjela continued her masters training under Professor Dejan Gavric.
After finishing her studies, Andjela has played for popular symphony orchestras at home and abroad, travelling to perform in Germany , Italy , Austria , France , the Czech Republic , and the US .
She is a member of the brass quintet The Soloists of Nis, as well as the trio Masala.
The evening will open with the orchestra playing Overture from Operetta, The Bat by Johann Strauss.
Following Andjela's performance, Korean soprano Cho will pay tribute to Italian composer Puccini with Chi il bel sogno di Doretta, a popular extract from the opera La Rondine.
Cho, who will be accompanied by clarinettist Dao Nhat Quang and the orchestra, will continue with Mozart's Laclemenza di Tito, singing the extract Parto, ma tu ben mio.
The concert's second part will see clarinettist Quang and the orchestra perform compositions by Rossini and Tchaikovsky.
Quang will play Rossini's Introduction, Theme&Variatitions for clarinet and orchestra. A 1992 graduate from the Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory, Quang has participated in many local and international music festivals.
He now works for the HBSO after spending six years teaching music at the Pusan Arts College .
The night will close with Suite from Nutcraker, one of Tchaikvsky's most famous works for ballet.
The concert will take place under the baton of Nguyen Anh Son, one of the HBSO's young talents who has honed his conducting skills at the Russian State Conservatory in Moscow .
The show will begin at 8pm and tickets (150,000 and 250,000 VND) are available at the theatre's box office.-VNA
