Renowned musicians from Vietnam and Norway will gather for a special cultural exchange celebrating the two countries’ friendship on April 17-18 in Hanoi.

According to information released by the Vietnam Opera House on April 14, the event will feature the classical conductor Thomas Rimul and performances by Vietnam’s Dao To Loan and violist Nguyen Thien Minh and Norway’s baritone Halvor F. Melien.

The show will feature a symphony titled “Kieu”, written by Dang Hong Anh, recounting the ups and downs in the life of Thuy Kieu, as originally told in the epic folk poem “The Tale of Kieu.” The original masterpiece was written in the old Nom language by Nguyen Du, who was recognised by the World Peace Council as a global cultural celebrity in 1965.

The artists at the exchange will perform other internationally famous musical works, including the Classical Symphony by Russian Sergei Prokofiev, Solveig’s Song by Norwegian Edvard Grieg, and a Concerto by German Felix Mendelssohn.-VNA
