The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam hosted a variety of climate change activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Nguyen Minh Quang, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment spoke highly of Denmark’s role in helping Vietnam cope with negative impacts of climate change and take advantage of opportunities it offers.

Lars Thuesen, Danish State Secretary for Strategy and Trade affirmed that Denmark will continue sharing experience and advanced technologies to help Vietnam deal with climate change in the near future.

Minister Quang and Danish Crown Prince Frederik presented awards of the design contest for a creative multi-purpose house responding to climate change.

First prize went to Nguyen Ich Thang from Hanoi’s outlying district of Dan Phuong, for his work named, “Multi-purpose, semi-mobile house”.

As part of the event, a seminar on climate change in Vietnam was also held. The participants presented updates on scenarios on climate change and rising sea levels in Vietnam.

On the occasion, Crown Prince Frederik and ministry leaders rode bicycles from Hanoi Opera House to Ly Thai To gardens in Hanoi to promote awareness about environmentally-friendly activities.

The Crown Prince and Minister Quang also inaugurated a street festival in downtown Hanoi./.
