At least 10 people were killed and nine others injured in a coach collision in the central province of Binh Thuan on February 9.

The accident occurred at around 1:30 am in Ham Minh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, when a 30-seat bus, on its way from Phan Thiet city to southern Ho Chi Minh City , collided with another coach carrying about 45 passengers.

The victims were rushed to hospital right after the accident.

Seven out of the 10 dead victims have been identified so far, including the drivers of the two vehicles.

Deputy head of the provincial committee for traffic safety Pham Van Nam, deputy head of the provincial health department Nguyen Quoc Viet, and local police were present at the accident site to regulate the traffic flow and protect the site and properties of the victims.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Tien Phuong extended his condolences to the victims receiving treatment at the hospitals.

The local People’s Committee will support 7 million VND (329 USD) in cash for the bereaved families, and some 2.5-3.5 million VND for the injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.-VNA
