Offices of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the National Committee on Search and Rescue on October 30 issued an order urging coastal provinces to brace themselves for the coming tropical storm Krosa.

Localities between Quang Ninh to Phu Yen and relevant ministries and agencies were urged to keep a close watch on the storm’s development and take the initiative in coping with the national disaster.

They were also required to keep regular contact with off-shore vessels and provide them with information about the location and direction of the typhoon in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, rescue forces and facilities were asked to stand ready when necessary.

Storm Krosa, the 12 th to hit Vietnam this year, is now bearing down on the Philippines, packing maximum winds of between 75 and 102 kilometres per hour.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said in the next 24 hours, the storm is expected to move west and west-northwest at around 25 kilometres per hour.-VNA
