HCM City (VNA) - A communications campaign themed “Hello Ho Chi Minh City” will run from October to late January to promote the image of a safe and friendly HCM City and stimulate domestic tourism demand.

The municipal Department of Tourism will hold events and activities within the framework of the event, such as the signing of tourism alliances between HCM City and other southern localities and the south-central province of Binh Thuan, and the holding of an Ao Dai (traditional dress) festival.

An official travel identifier of HCM City will be introduced in the second phase of the campaign.

Conferences promoting tourism links between the city and localities in the northwest, northeast, and central regions will also be organised.

Municipal authorities will also focus on fostering tourism promotion activities in the communications channels of international tourism organisations the city has joined, such the Tourism Promoting Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) and the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA), as well as online travel agencies (OTAs).

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy highlighted the significance of the campaign, saying that it aims to start the chain of events and tourism promotion programmes in the city’s tourism development strategy to 2025 and vision to 2030./.
