Competition to design State formal wear announced

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 1 launched a contest to design State formal wear that will be worn at national and international events.

The competition is open to individuals, organisations, and professional and amateur designers both at home and abroad who are 18-years-old and above.

The candidates are required to design four mock-ups for men and women, covering traditional and modern trends. The clothing are encouraged to be made from traditional materials.

They can be designed by hand or computer, and include an explanation note of about 100 words.

The outfits must be convenient and suit the country’s climate as well as Vietnamese people’s stature, while reflecting Vietnam’s special cultural identities.

The organising board will receive entries from November 1-5 at the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, 38 Cao Ba Quat, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.

The four best designs will be awarded cash prizes totalling 120 million VND.-VNA
