Well-built traffic infrastructure from lowland to mountainous and islanddistricts has given a facelift to the central province of QuangNgai , said local officials.
Over the past 25years, nearly 7,760 km of roads have been built across the province, 5.5times higher than that of 1989 when Quang Ngai was re-established. Alarge proportion of them were asphalted.
More than355 km of four national highways (1A, 24, 24B, and 24C) traverse theprovince along with some 400 km of 11 inter-provincial roads.
Meanwhile, nearly 2,000 km of inter-communal roads now make it easier to access rural localities.
Notably, over 120 km of asphalted roads have been constructed in theDung Quat economic zone, facilitating the transport of goods andequipment.
Quang Ngai authorities and businesseshave also built other facilities in the zone such as the ports ofGemadep, Doosan Vina, Sa Ky, and Ly Son, smoothing the way for tradeactivities and tourists’ travelling.
Dang Van Minh,Director of the provincial Department of Transport, said thecomprehensive infrastructure developed across Quang Ngai has increasedthe transport of passengers, from 305,000 in 1989 to 3.05 million by thefirst half of 2014.
At the same time, thethroughput of goods delivered through the province has climbed to 5.12million tonnes from 212,000 tonnes over the period, he added.-VNA
