The Vietnam Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) will coordinate with the Austrian Embassy in Vietnam to organise a concert to celebrate the 100th death anniversary of talented Austrian composer Gustav Mahler at the Hanoi Opera House on the night of March 3-4.
Japanese artist Kono Katsunori will perform with his colleagues from the VNSO under the direction of conductor Honna Tetsuji.
The programme will introduce to Vietnamese audience Mahler’s two special works, namely the “Song of Wanderers” and the Symphony No. 1.
The “Song of Wanderers” include four poets inspired from the composer’s romantic love.
Meanwhile, the Symphony No. 1, which was composed between late 1887 and March 1888, was one of the most famous works of Mahler written on the basis of his previous music works.
Music studies show that the work has been performed at least 60 times in the life of the composer./.
