A concert featuring both Vietnamese and American artists will be held onJune 21 to mark the 20 th year of the normalisation of diplomatic tiesbetween Vietnam and the United States, according to the Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism.
The concert will bejointly organised by the Vietnam Performing Arts Centre and the USEmbassy at the Thai Nguyen University of Technology in northern ThaiNguyen province.
It features the Thao & Get DownStay Down, an US-based alternative folk rock music group, whichconsists of vocalist and musician Thao Nguyen, organist Johanna JessieKunin, drummer Jason Marcus Slota and Adam Laurance Thompson on bass.
Born in Virginia, Thao Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American,began playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of twelve. Shestarted performing in high school as part of a pop-country group.
Her album “We the Common” released in 2013 was well-received by critics.-VNA
