– The 4th international conference on Vietnamese literature and the 3rd international poetry festival opened in Hanoi on February 16 with the participation of nearly 200 poets, writers and translators from 46 countries and territories around the world.

Delegates said since the first conference on Vietnamese literature was held in 2002, more Vietnamese literature works have been translated and published in many countries and territories, receiving warm response from foriegn readers.

For example, the “Prison Diary” poetry of late President Ho Chi Minh was first translated and published in Latin American countries.

Apart from literature books, works by late General Vo Nguyen Giap, and Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong have been translated and introduced to the public in some countries.

Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association Huu Thinh said Vietnamese literature has been changing day by day to reflect the country’s land, people, and traditional culture.

The conference on Vietnamese literature and the poetry festival are being held along with the 17th Vietnam Poetry on February 16-21 in Hanoi capital city, Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.

On this occasion, three publications namely “10 the ky van hoc Viet Nam” (A General Overview of 10 Centuries of Vietnamese Literature), “Tuyen tap tho Viet Nam” (Vietnamese Poems Collection), and “Tuyen tap truyen ngan Viet Nam hien dai” (Modern Vietnamese Short Stories Collection” will be released in Vietnamese and English to introduce to domestic and foreign readers.-VNA
