Hanoi (VNA) – A conference on InterAsian connections was held in Hanoi on December 4 to seek ways to enhance link among international science communities for addressing Asia-related issues in the global relationship.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the US’s Social Science Research Council (SSRC), the event, the sixth edition, aims to share and discuss regional issues from the perspective of international scholars.

Addressing the event, VASS President Nguyen Quang Thuan underlined the significance of the event, saying that it is one of international cooperation activities arranged by the academy, contributing to connecting the international scientist community in dealing with regional and global issues.

Mary McDonnell, Vice President of the SSRC, stressed the need to enhance mutual understanding among parties and make breakthroughs with new creative researches to raise public awareness.

The workshop offers a chance for scientists to propose orientations for promoting connection in research projects relating to Asian and global connectivity.

Asia shows its increasing role in the development in the world and registers an annual average economic growth rate of 6 percent over the past 25 years.

Technological innovation achievements in the region such as automobile, smart phone, robot, biotechnology and renewable energy are bringing rapid changes to people in the region and the world.

Participants to the workshop focused their discussions on key issues of new traditional industry, technology 4.0 and China’s belt and road initiative. - VNA
