Conference on people’s council and committee in September

A national conference reviewing the operation of people’s councils and people’s committees at all levels will take place on September 9-10, the Government’s Office has announced.

The conference will be jointly held by the Government and the NationalAssembly (NA) Standing Committee, the Government’s Office said.

It added that the Prime Minister has empowered the Minister of HomeAffairs to coordinate with the NA Standing Committee and relevantagencies to prepare the conference’s agenda.

At this conference, the Government will present a report reviewing theorganisation and performance of people’s committees at all levels in the2004-2011 term and touching upon orientations and tasks of people’scommittees in the new term.

The Government will also report about the pilot implementation of notorganising people’s councils at districts and wards in 10 provinces andcentrally-run cities./.
