Beijing (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Vice Governor of China’s Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin co-chaired the seventh conference reviewing cooperation results between Vietnam’s ministries and localities and the Chinese province in Guangzhou city from June 23-25.

At the event, both sides focused discussions on measures to foster trade cooperation, expand the import of Vietnam’s high-quality products, and upgrade An Phong industrial zone in Vietnam’s Hai Phong city.

Addressing the event, Trung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of treasuring its friendship neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China, and hoping to boost win-win cooperation with China in general and Guangdong province in particular.

Speaking of collaboration results between Vietnamese localities and Guangdong, he suggested both sides maintain all-level delegation exchanges to enhance mutual trust and understanding, effectively implement common perceptions reached by the two countries’ senior leaders, and continue intensifying collaboration in economics, trade, investment, transport, finance, science and technology, agriculture, culture and tourism.

He asked Guangdong to facilitate the access of Vietnam’s goods, particularly agro-fishery-forestry products and processed products, to the province and China at large, encourage its hi-tech businesses operating in processing, clean energy and hi-tech agriculture to invest in Vietnam.

Ouyang, in turn, affirmed that Guangdong attaches importance to developing its relations with Vietnam’s ministries, sectors and localities, and is willing to coordinate with the Vietnamese side in carrying out cooperation programmes, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

Guangdong hopes that Vietnam’s authorized offices would consider preferential policies for the construction of the An Phong industrial zone.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister had meetings with Governor of Guangdong province Ma Xingrui and Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology Wang Jiangping. He also attended and delivered a speech at a forum to promote Vietnam-Guangdong trade and investment, which attracted representatives from more than 170 enterprises of Vietnam, Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Guangdong is the only Chinese locality which has a cooperation mechanism with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities. Trade between Vietnam and the province enjoyed a year-on-year increase of 34.2 percent last year, reaching 37.16 billion USD, accounting for 25.1 percent of the total trade turnover between the two countries.-VNA
